On the following pages you will find some of my personal ideas, inventions, modifications and technical hints for the Ural 650, official type IMZ 8.103-10 and IMZ 8.103-40
I bought my Ural in 1992 in Leningrad / St. Peterburg, it was really cheap, because it is a domestic version (IMZ 8.103-10), it than was shipped to Germany. Up to that time everything went fine, but than the problems started:
Registration in Germany is a real problem: - I had to vistit the customs office, - I had to ask for a certificate, that the bike is not stolen - I had to find an officially approved person for a translation of the Russian paperwork - I had to visit the registration office - I had to visit TÜV, a special German institution for technical tests - I had to get a number plate - I had to visit the regsitration office again and got the offical single vehicle approval - I finally got my Ural registered
This is only a very shortened version of the real trouble to get an imported motorcycle registered in Germany.
